EXHIBIT: Sovereign Bodies Sacred Futures: Honoring Queer Resistance and Envisioning Collective Liberation

SHOW STATEMENT:
Collective liberation is an intergenerational and intersectional struggle. This show honors the historic resistance and resilience of Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC), illuminates the intersectional advocacy of contemporary artists and activists, and envisions a liberated future for all.
We are looking for art that addresses questions like: What does Queer liberation look like to you? What does living authentically mean to you? How does your existence as a Queer person of color connect to other movements? What does joy as resistance look like?

DEADLINES & DATES:

Online Submission: Wednesday, April 23rd by 6pm

Drop off: Sunday, April 27th from 12-4pm & Monday, April 28th from 12-4pm
-
Pick up: Monday, June 30th from 12-4pm

Fees: $15 per piece for non-members, $10 per piece for members

Showing artists must pick-up and drop-off on scheduled dates
LIMITATIONS:

Eligibility: Open to QTPOC artists, CHAC members and non-members
-
Theme: Themes include but are not limited to: Queer futures, Queer joy, joy as resistance, Queer love, LGBTQ2S+ history, identity and culture, activism, resilience, counter narratives, authenticity, intersectional liberation, intergenerational struggles, mutual aid and fostering community.

Submission Limit: Artists may submit up to 2 pieces. Please note that depending on the number of entries received, we may only be able to accept 1 piece per person

Presentation: All submitted works must be ready for hanging (painted edges, wired, etc. no sawtooth)

All entries must be for sale

Size Limit: no size requirement we are more concerned with adherence to the theme and quality of work, however space is limited and very large pieces aren’t guaranteed space.

CHAC will take 30% of the commission

Repeat art may not accepted

Participating artists are responsible for 1 volunteer shift (gallery sitting or event help) OR a $25 gallery sitting fee. PLEASE CONTACT US IF THIS CREATES A BARRIER TO PARTICIPATION; there may be sponsorships or other volunteer opportunities available. (Contact intern@chacgallery.org)

A signed waiver is required for all entries

Please click link in STEP TWO to make sure your image uploaded! If you don't have google if may not let you. If it did not upload, please USE STEP TWO TO UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES!
STEP TWO:
Please note, your images MUST be titled with your name and the title and dimensions of the artwork. (To rename JPEG files, right-click on the JPEG image on your computer, scroll down to ‘Rename’ and click, and then re-title your file with the correct naming convention).
