Cultural Arts Education Programs

  • Schools, libraries, and organizations all come together to join us in our Cultural Arts Workshops. ​
  • Experience the teachings from our Maestros (master teachers) on exploring the different cultural hands-on arts and crafts courses.
  • Workshop are offered in English, Spanish, or both.
  • Workshops are tailored for your age group and audience (K-12, family & community)
  • All workshops can be done at CHAC Gallery or we can come to your location. 
  • Pricing starts at $150 for 15 students and $50 travel fee (please contact us for specific pricing).

Alebrijes

Welcome to our creative community! Join us in painting your own guardian creature inspired by the magical Alebrijes from Coco. These fantastical beings, dreamed up by Pedro Linares, celebrate imagination. With Crayola Model Magic Clay, you can bring your unique vision to life!

Me, Myself and Frida

Frida Kahlo, a self-taught painter, is known for her self-portraits. After a bus accident at eighteen, she began painting during her recovery. Her art blends Mexican culture, folk elements, and autobiographical themes, often labeled as Surrealism or Magical Realism.

South American Weaving

In this weaving workshop, every thread is a bridge connecting the past and the present, a vibrant celebration of craftsmanship, culture, and the enduring beauty of traditions woven into the fabric of life. Make small weaved-together blankets using methods passed down from Latin cultures.

Calaveras ~ Sugar Skulls

K - 12th, Community/Adult (suggested)
Welcome to our vibrant calaveras! Our charming sugar skulls are crafted with puffy paint and colorful icing, adorned with sequins and jewels. Perfect for celebrating the Day of the Dead or adding a festive touch to any occasion!

Flores de Papel ~ Paper Flowers

Papel Picado is a Mexican art that cuts designs into tissue paper, perfect for Fiestas. Papel Flores have evolved into vibrant decorations. Our Papel Picados and Flores add tradition and color to any occasion.

Watercolor Paintings

Enjoy the calming and inspirational craft that is watercolor painting. Learn about water color painting. This workshop is usually paired with images of petroglyphs from the southwest.

Join us to craft Ojos de Dios, or God's Eyes. This vibrant object holds cultural significance in Mexican communities. Suitable for all ages, our workshop invites everyone to discover this unique craft and connect with tradition!

Catrina Mask

1st-12th (suggested)
Join us in celebrating the vibrant Mexican holiday, Dia de Los Muertos Discover the rich traditions surrounding this special day and learn about the iconic figure of La Catrina, a symbol of death and remembrance. Get creative and make your own Catrina mask to wear during the festivities. Embrace the spirit of the holiday honor loved ones with this fun and activity!

Chicos Nichos

1st-12th (suggested)

Nichos are colorful boxes significant in Mexican and South American cultures. They serve as altars for icons or memorials, featuring themes like Saints, Corazons, Superheroes, and Frida Kahlo.
